to Flight Services, Inc

When you visit you may see us out flying, gathered in the den chatting about airplanes and aviation or watching the sun set over the grass strip on the front porch .  We teach the old fashion way with one-on-one style instruction focusing on proficiency. At Flight Services, Inc our instructors are passionate about aviation and want to continue the rich legacy of aviation through our students.

Our History

Flight Services, Inc located at Headland Municipal Airport with 1 paved and 1 grass runway

Flight Services, Inc was born in 1982. Originally known as Headland Flite Center, we have been located at the Headland Airport for over 40 years. We have trained pilots from many different countries to include Iceland, Germany, and Argentina to name a few. We have also trained many local pilots in the areas: accountants, doctors, lawyers, mechanics, moms, dads, and many other professions. Ask around and our name will pop up in most flying conversations.

The owner/president of Flight Services, Inc was Robert "Bob" K. Daugherty. Bob served in the US Army as a helicopter pilot and instructor to include 2 tours in Vietnam. He retired from Fort Rucker after 40 years where he taught primary flight training for 28 years and taught ground instruction for the US Air Force his last 12 years.

Bob began Flight Services, Inc with several friends due to his love of flying and teaching. His idea was to have a flight school when he retired to continue his passion for aviation.  During these years he trained over 1000 pilots for private, instrument, commercial, multi-engine, CFI, CFII, seaplane, and gliders. He also trained military pilots for their civilian rating to further their careers when leaving the service.

Bob passed away April 4th, 2021. His love of aviation and passion for teaching continues with Jason Skelton.
